Cracked Pepper

Cracked Pepper

We’d like to introduce “Cracked Pepper” (aptly named for obvious reasons) Frame off build,1950 Chevy 3100 5 window Resto Mod/ Patina Paradise/ Shop truck pickup.

Cracked pepper comes to us by way of the great state of Kansas and was an abandoned farm truck that’s been off the road since 1975.  Left to sit in the Kansas dirt next to a barn for eternity, I immediately saw the potential with this ole 5 window and figured it was worth resurrecting him. The though of paint wasn’t even on my mind as Cracked pepper has his share of bumps and bruises but that’s why gives him character and makes him unique.

The start of the rebirth involved a rebuilt 350 4 bolt main small block Chevy with a small cam to let you know somethings under the hood. We paired the 350 with a rebuilt 700R4 and new higher stall torque convertor to match the cam profile.  Cooling duties are handled by an aluminum radiator with an electric fan. The 350 is toped with a unique carburetor setup, 3 two barrels Aka “3 Deuces”. Customer headers and dual exhaust round out the engine bay. Engine also has electronic ignition with a new distributor and coil setup. We also rewired the truck from front to back with a new body harness. Vintage air AC, power Steering and power brakes complete the under hood upgrades.

We swapped the body to the correct long bed s10 frame and replaced any worn components in the steering and and suspension. The truck is static dropped with drop spindles in front and blocks in the rear. The truck is also sporting a new fuel system and we removed the gas tank from the cabin and placed in under the bed with an easy access filler neck in the bed floor. We replaced the wood in the bed with new pine and all new fasteners and bed strips were used. The truck has new 18″ American racing wheels and tires which are currently on the truck. Truck also can come with 15″ steel wheels, hub caps, and whitewall tires depending on the look the new owner is after.

We spent a ton of time and money on the interior. New seat with diamond stitching, new door panel, new headliner, new carpet, Lokar shifter, tilt column, new steering wheel, new gauges, Bluetooth sound system, new Weatherstrip, new glass, new electric wipers,  basically the entire received the full treatment. The exterior looks rough the interior looks refined, just the look we were going for.

Cracked pepper is a great cruiser and will make the new owner  a happy camper. In preparation for all the questions, I made a sticker on the back window that should save you the hassle of answering them. Rusty and crusty but still a great looking 5 window truck that still looks as good today as it did 70 years ago. Pretty a 2022 Silverado is never going to be this cool 70 years down the road.
